Fingerprint Cards CEO steps down, Hansson takes acting lead
Christian Fredrikson is out as CEO of Fingerprint Cards, parting ways in mutual agreement with the company’s board of directors after just over 6 years in the role. Ted Hansson moves into the acting CEO position, and will continue serving as president of Fingerprint Cards’ Mobile, PC and Access China business.
Hansson has overseen the company’s largest business area in terms of revenue, and has spent nearly a decade with the biometrics developer.
Fredrikson discussed the logic behind the split of Fingerprint Cards into the Fingerprint Technology Company (FPC), lead by Hansson, and Fingerprint Cards Switzerland, with Biometric Update in early-2022. The latter serves the payments ecosystem and provides access control for areas like the automotive industry.
“Under Christian Fredrikson’s leadership, Fingerprints has diversified its operations into new areas where biometrics is now increasingly being adopted. The investments made in technological and product development during recent years have put the company in a strong position to meet the growing demand for biometric solutions in established as well as in new markets. I would like to thank Christian for his contributions and welcome Ted into his new role as acting CEO,” says Christian Lagerling, chairman of the board of Fingerprint Cards.

Fingerprint Cards recently reported a tough third quarter, with revenues from mobile biometrics depressed by Covid lockdowns in China.
